the view of the ascending Christ |
After almost eight hours in a van, travelling from Daraga, Albay to Lucban Quezon, we finally had a glimpse of Kamay ni Hesus shrine. Unlike my former travels where I would do research endlessly, this time around I just hop in without much idea of where we are heading. For someone who's forever attack by dizziness in a moving vehicle, long hours of travel has always been a disaster. But I just couldn't resist the chance to see the place for myself and be with family. It is very rare that we would travel together. While i tried to get sleep on the entire travel, they had fun chatting and eating.
We left our home at past eight in the evening and arrived at Lucena at four. We had our breakfast there and took a little rest since according to the driver, it is an hour away and the gates would be open at six in the morning. True enough when we got there, we were just the second group that arrived. It was a Wednesday so there was an schedule healing mass at 9:30am. We still got time ahead of us so we went around for some picture taking (mind you, nobody took a bath, hehe) and decided to hike up the 300 plus stairs leading to the 50 feet statue of the ascending Christ. It wasn't an easy feat up for growing old ladies like me,hehe but the rain drops as soon as we reached the top made our way down effortless. We were almost running. We did not have the chance to enjoy the view from the top.
And so the healing mass started. It was actually my first time to attend one. Of course, I've heard about Fr. Joey and I was pleased to be finally hearing him in person. I was surprised that there was special healing for those who want to conceive. But I was surprise even more on how it turned out. I rather not write about it anymore in due respect to the priest.
I am looking forward to more travel with all of us. And may it happen more often.
