bits of Ilonggo


I really don’t have much time to study Ilonggo now. I even miss multiply for so long that I was terribly busy. Thanks to my “miga’, I had no choice but to speak some Ilonggo from time to time. Anyway, here are few words which I observed in their dialect. For Tagalog speakers, these may a bit confusing. With no offense meant, they have the tendency to use some words with their Tagalog, or sometimes, they just don’t use the appropriate word in what the sentence actually means.

“Naisip mo na?”              - “nabilang mo na ba?”
“Ma-gulang mo?”           - “Nakakatanda sa’yo?”
“maliit lang nakain ko.” - “Konti lang nakain ko
